simple scrapper: october sketches

Hello October…

 

It’s that time again where I share my monthly work for
Simple Scrapper.

As always I loved Jennifer’s sketches. She never seems to
disappoint. In fact I used 3 of the 5 sketches this month! Scroll on down to
check them out!

 

I haven’t been using my Studio Calico kits lately, but I
finally managed to use them this month. I love when sketches, papers and photos
come together with very little effort. This photo was taken in Canyonville OR
on our first west coast trip 0f the year.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

I really love how each layout used PL cards. I love PL cards
but don’t do paper PL. I know I will be using the October sketches for quite
some time!

simple scrapper:august sketches

I wanted to make sure I shared this lo!

I had asked Jennifer if in the upcoming months we could have
some large photo sketches…

Well I got one!

And I love it!

I ordered the 12x12 print from Persnickety Prints, I think
it cost around $2 I also ordered a bunch of other things too. But I think
shipping is always just $5 no matter how larger the order.

This photo is just from my iPhone and it blew up
wonderfully!

I really like the concept of scraping on the photo rather
than scraping a photo on paper!

 

For August the story starter theme was work and play…

I think my layout might just some it up for you… Racing is
both work and play

Check out how young I am, and how long my hair was! That’s my
dad and my brother Chris, who drives the current racecar.

I never had a chance to share my Simple Scrapper projects
for August.

I don’t know why this makes me so sad… Mostly because I love
Jennifer’s sketches and I love sharing my work with everyone!

The September sketches are ready for there reveal.

My first layout Elk Crossing was made with the freebie
sketch from Simple Scrapper. That’s right a free sketch. Simple Scrapper is
sponsoring Paper Issues “issue” and you have till the 7^th to link up
your take on this sketch!

 

 

Just a few weeks ago Kevin and I drove down the coast from
Oregon. This photo is Just inside the Cali border.  Of course I made Kevin stop, and get out for
photos! Can you just hear me yelling, “Let me take your freakin picture! I need
more pictures for assignments!” Poor Guy! These photos were all taken from my
iPhone. Those elk are really that close. At one point an elk walked past me
literally 10 feet from me, I could hear Kevin yelling at me in my mind, and in
the background I could hear Jager going crazy! He wanted him self some elk!

 

Florence was absolutely beautiful! I could live there. And
they had a scrappy store. Bonus! We arrived in Florence via Eugene, around 6pm.
We checked into a motel, had dinner and then took the dogs for a walk. We
walked down a pier and this was the view, I am assuming this is a river flowing
into the ocean.

Simple Scrapper is no longer having blog hops. But I still
want to share my work, so I will still be posting the first Tuesday of the
month!

I really really love Jennifer’s Sketches! I know I say that
every month, but I really do. I am so thankful to be on this team. Getting
these sketches each month has really improved my scrapping skills!

 

I was running behind in June with all the crazy things that goes
on in my life. I only got to scrap 2 sketches. I normally scarp 3 layouts a
month for Simple Scrapper, so I am feeling like an underachiever right now!

 

For my first layout, I wanted to use this paper so bad but
it is sooo busy! I took this photo of me feet {go figure I took a photo of my
feet!} on a new throw rug I picked up at target for $4.99. Well I am sure glad
I snapped this photo when I did, cause the rug got washed and faded terribly!
Anyways color makes me happy and this paper makes me happy and blue toes make
me happy- I think you get it. So glad I got this all documented. When we turn
in our work at Simple Scrapper we always leave a tip for the members. I am
gonna share my tip here today, cause I know a lot of you shy away from such a
busy paper!

 

TIP: when using a very busy background paper, scrap a simple
photo that won’t compete with the paper.

 

 

For the 2^nd sketch I used the digital version and
I printed it out on cardstock. My printer was low on ink so I am having it
printed from Persnickety Prints.

I hope I like how it’s printed {really hoping it comes on a
cardstock like their instagram photos}

Anyways if I like how the print it, I am gonna make a bunch
more have them printed and add to my summer stories album!

 

Wouldn’t this template be super awesome for a December
Daily! It’s so simple to drop the photo in the template and journal. Then embellish
with physical product later!

 

Wow I really had a lot to say today! Thanks for going
through all my ramblings! lol

simple scrapper: june blog hop & giveway

 

When I received they sketches for June, I was traveling. In
my motor home.

And since the layouts were due before I returned home, I was
forced to scrap in the motor home! It actually was very doable. Jennifer has
talked about making a little kit before you sit down to scrap. Well that’s kinda
what I did. I subscribe to a kit club. So I brought that kit along with some
other “basic” product to scrap.

 

And as always I love, loved this months sketches. They were particularly
easy to work with since I was limited on product.

Yes this is me! We went to the Cayman
Islands when I was about 6. My parents can’t remember what year we actually
went. This is by far one of my all time favorite photos of myself. We were at a
sea turtle farm/aquarium? It was right on the beach. They had all these big
pools of turtles, I guess we were aloud to hold them, cause there I am holding one! I also remember an incubator, with
all the eggs. I wanted to see a little turtle hatch so badly. My favorite story
from that trip is, my mom bought post cards from the gift shop. On the post
card there was a little blonde girl and boy playing with the turtles on the
sand {the turtles were just hatched and trying to make it into the ocean}. You
could only see the back of the children. My younger cousin swore it was my
neighbor and I. Any ways. I took this photo of the “original” photo with my
camera. This is an instagram print from social print studio

Do you know the legend? Well as I have
heard you cant buy a Buddha for yourself… Nope it can only bring you good luck
if someone gives it to you! So my aunt Diane gave me one for Christmas last
year. And that is the legend of the Buddha!

And for my story starter. This month’s story starter was
about your childhood/children and or home. I have lived on the same street my
whole life. I made a big move 13 years ago. Yep I moved across the street. None
of the prompts really fit me, but I had just gone on a historic house tour in
the small town I live in. So I wrote and scrapped about that.
