cha: my projects

Today is my final recap of CHA 2014
And with that I will share my projects that were chosen to be displayed.
Honestly 7 years ago I would never have imagined I would have a project on display.
I know I do not have half of the talent that the rest of the designers have, but I am so thankful and honored to have projects amongst them! Thank you We R Memory Keepers and Some Odd Girl for displaying my creations!

chaw: 2014 preview

I am excited to announce that I will have projects up at CHAW 2014 this year!

7 years ago I went to my very first CHAW! For you who don’t know what this is it stands for Craft & Hobby Association Winter. It’s a trade show for all the scrappy products being released the first half of the year. It is not open to the public. You have to be a member and so on.

I never imagined 7 years ago when I attended, that I would EVER have projects on display. And I wont just have projects in one booth but 2.

Today I am sharing 2 layouts that I made for Some Odd Girl.

Aren’t these stamps cute? No I did not color these. I wont even try to claim I colored them. My friend Kristy, the owner of SOG colored them and sent them to me to work with. I feel so honored to have gotten to play with her creations. People she drew these girls! And then had them turned into stamps so everyone can use them!

Well if you happen to be attending be sure to stop by booth 2401 and say hi to Kristy! And of course see my layouts in person. And if you want to get crazy, instagram a pic of my layouts and tag me @aimeemaddern I would love to see it!

instafriday: week 1 2014

I am not ready for this year to start….

I think the last 2 years have been so good; I just don’t want to let go!

I still am contemplating if I want to continue instafriday. As much as I love it I’m kinda tired of it. But here I am with the first week of 2014.

This past week involved lots of traditions, and new adventures.

i made this: lifestyle crafts

Today is my last post of 2013! To finish this year I’m gonna show you a little project using my evolution and genius platform from Lifestyle Crafts.

  I made this

First of all I used a calendar cuties from I Love It All.

  2

Now I don’t know about you, but I just cant seem to cut straight! If I am using scissors or a paper cutter, I get a straight line with curves. That’s why using a die is way better! Your cut will come out perfect every time.

 3

I printed my calendar cutie on 8.5 x 11 cardstock. I then cut it down to 6 inches wide so it can run through the evolution.

  4

Taking the second largest die from the Pocket Scrap Starter Dies I placed the ridged edge facing down and used a little washi tape to hold it in place. Make sure your ridged edge is not facing the platform {other wise you will cut your platform and dull your die} Place the cutting mat on top of the platform {your paper and die will be the meat and cheese of this sandwich} and run everything through your machine.

 6

Pull everything out of the machine. Since I used washi tape to hold the die in place, your “die cut” will still be attached to the larger piece of paper. Carefully remove the washi and now you have a perfect cut!

  5

You can now use your perfect cut to slip right into your Project Life or any pocket scraping you might be doing. But don’t limit these dies to pocket scrapping; this is also a perfect cut for scraping a traditional layout too!

instafriday: week 52

Merry Christmas & A Happy New Year! This is the final instafriday of 2013! As much as I LOVE this project I am a little burnt out! But I don’t think I’m gonna give up yet. I truly do love seeing the whole year in 1 album! It seriously is so fun to look through. The only way I think I could simplify this project is to just post once a month. And I think if I did that I wouldn’t be consistent, so for now I plan on doing instafriday as my project life for 2014.

chic tags: glitz design blog hop

Hello again.

I sure have enjoyed working with Chic Tags & Glitz Designs.

Are you ready to see more fabulous projects?

I have one more layout for you to enjoy. For this one I used one of the Glitz Designs Silhouette cuts to cut the deer head. You might recognize it from the Finnley Collection. When I saw the Reindeer card from CT good tidings, I knew it had to go on this layout. I’m still really impressed how well the 2 collections went together.

hello december: days 1-8

In the past I have tried doing a December daily and never have been 100% successful. So this year I am trying a new approach. Instead of December Daily I am calling it Hello December. I have a really hard time documenting each day, so I am using a couple different prompts for not so daily photos/journaling. I don’t want to be forced to document everyday, just fun moments and a few things in between. I am using a Studio Calico Handbook with a mixture of pocket page protectors.

(I will try my best to name all product and provide links to most.

Most is from my personal stash.

Please feel free to email me nay questions at: amadd78 {at} gmail {dot} com)

The first page in my book I printed out December photo a day from Fat Mum Slim on vellum. I am not dedicated to these prompts they are just here for filler incase I need something exciting.

  3

Title page: I used a 4 up 3x4 page protector. I filled the pockets with a mixture of different journaling cards and embellishments I had! **I didn’t buy anything particular for this album, everything I had on hand including the album** I spray painted wood A & K for Aimee & Kevin. I don’t have anything in the backside of the pockets but plan to add PLS December 1-25 Journaling Cards.

Day 1: For a kick start I used the photo prompt, I also used the cover of a J.Crew catalog I had received in the mail as my base not worrying about what the back side would look like {I like using holiday junk mail in my album it helps remember what trends were hot}

Day 2: using the photo prompt again I filled a 4up 3x4 page protector, again not worrying about filling the backside.

Day 3: using the photo prompt again I printed my photo on to vellum.

Day 4: by this point I got busy and feel behind. So when I played catch up I used a 6x8 digital template from Ali Edwards. I filled the template of photos from around the house. I also used a 6x8 page protector.

Day 5: Slipped into the backside of day 4. The cover of a crate & barrel catalog, I attached a vellum cut I made with my Silhouette Cameo.

  11

Day 6: Using a 4up 3x4 page protector I filled it with photos leaving one empty to fill with a 3x4 transparency from Chic Tags and some umwowstudios chipboard snowflakes. The backside I used some PLS December 1-25 Journaling Cards. I journaled what we did on those days. {not really day 6}

12

13

Day 7: really isn’t day 7… like I mentioned I have let go of trying to document what we did each day, and just documenting it! So this page I used another Ali Edwards 6x8 Template to print my photo and slipped it into a page protector. I slipped day 6 into the backside of this page protector. Again I used an Ali Edwards template to print my photo.

merry christmas embellishment from Michaels

Day 8: I made ahead of time {while making days 2 & 3} I used a prompt and printed an email out onto vellum. I didn’t think I would have anything for this day but I ended up having a lot. So I used another Ali Edwards’s template to print out what we did on Sunday, which was going to the beach and motorcycle show. Using a page protector I slipped the photo in and the backside I used a piece of an anthropologie catalog {which was the email I had previously printed}.

mason jar snow globe: tutorial

Last week I shared some projects I made for Pretty Little Studio’s Cyber Monday Blog Hop.  I got a few request to share how I made the Mason jar snow globe. So here you go

DSC_0032

Product supply list:

Mason jar

Hot glue gun

Styrofoam ball

Die cuts

Miniatures, such as cupcake toppers

Snow-tex

Glitter, which resembles “snow”

Old knife

1

First I cut the ball in half and glued half

to the inside of the lid.

2

Before adding the show I cut a slit in the ball

for the die cut to slide into

With out the “ring” part of the lid

I started applying the Snow-tex to the ball,

creating a hill  Remember the jar will need to

fit over this “hill” and into the “ring”.

I kept a step in the snow at the bottom

of the hill for the jar to fit into.

3

Without covering the slice I made in the ball I placed the die cut in and hot glue in place.

I continue to add snow building my hill. I simply just set the miniatures in the snow to dry in place

4

Once the snow has dried I carefully squeezed

the die cut in half to fit in the jar.

Once in the jar holding the jar upright

I added the loose glitter.

Once I had the jar assembled I wrapped

the lid with red twine and tied on a tag.
